Collaborating With Orchid Data
In this 2020 Plone Conference talk, Sally describes a system built to capture and manage data about orchids
Jazkarta has a long history of working with NAOCC - the North American Orchid Conservation Center. We built their online orchid identification tool, Go Orchids, in 2013 and have supported it ever since. When they needed a system where staff and collaborators could manage data about their orchid samples it was natural for them to reach out to us. Combining web database and workflow management features, the system also need to support a complex set of access permissions. This would have been expensive to build on top of a simple framework like Django or Pyramid, but we had a trick up our sleeve: Plone, which has collaboration features galore.
