Prerequisites

Knowledge of Plone and experience developing Plone products with Archetypes. Python programming skills. Please see the prerequisites overview and suggested reading.

Requirements

A laptop computer to follow along with this hands-on class.

About the Instructor

Rocky Burt headshotRocky Burt has worked for many years offering software consulting services to companies across North America and Europe. He has contributed to countless open source projects and has strong ties to the Plone developer community being recently appointed as a member of the Plone core framework team. He is the author of numerous Plone/Zope products including SQLPASPlugin, feedfeeder, the Plone4Artists products, etc.

Rocky presented a 3 hour tutorial Developing Plone Products Using Zope 3 Technologies at the last Plone Conference in Seattle to a packed room of eager participants. Read more about Rocky on his blog.

Plone4Artists / Multimedia Sprint (optional)

The training is being offered in conjunction with the Plone4Artists / multimedia sprint which will take place at the same location in the following five days after the training (July 18-22).

This is an excellent opportunity to apply what you've learned during the training and get hands-on experience building a Plone product using Zope 3 techniques. You will work side-by-side other developers and be able to call on the Zope 3 experts to help you when you get stuck. Besides, sprinting is a great learning experience and a lot of fun! Location

The training will take place in the modern facilities at the Christian Science Center in the heart of Boston, MA. There are ample restaurants, nightlife and other attractions within walking distance of this historic Back Bay neighborhood.


Accomodations

There are plenty of hostels, B&Bs and hotels at various price levels within walking distance of the training location. Please see the accommodations page for the sprint.

Transportation

Boston is served by Logan International Airport. See the airlines which fly into Logan. There are buses / trains from New York City for $20-90 (3.5-4.5 hrs).
