Jazkarta to deploy PondCMS for 20 Massachusetts Libraries

This grant-funded project for Central Massachusetts Regional Library Systems will provide Plone websites for 20 member libraries. CMRLS will be the first PondCMS customer.

CMRLS is a small private not-for-profit organization serving 244 academic, public, school and special libraries in 72 communities. It focuses on building the capacity of libraries to serve their users through resource sharing, reference, advisory services and continuing education programs. CMRLS is primarily funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Jazkarta is embarking on a grant-funded project with CMRLS that will enable small central Massachusetts public libraries that currently have very minimal or no web presence to offer user-friendly, attractive and easy to maintain websites through the use of our PondCMS product. PondCMS provides an all-in-one CMS solution based on Plone, a best-of-breed open source content management system.

PondCMS Plone sites are hosted on Amazon EC2 to provide cost-effective scalability and reliability. With PondCMS, each participating library will get its own Plone site where staff can create web pages and promote their online databases and programming, making them more accessible to residents. The Plone sites will include a calendaring system that will provide harvestable events for inclusion in a state-wide calendar maintained by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

The project is funded through an LSTA grant called “Home on the Web”. Jazkarta is excited to be participating in this initiative to help our small Massachusets libraries.
